Hormone imbalances are NOT a root cause...
Did you know that hormone imbalances are NOT a root cause?
Our reproductive hormones are RESPONDING to factors including our diet, lifestyle and genetics. They are rarely the CAUSE of our problems.
You’ve heard me bang on about the hormonal hierarchy. We need to address our foundational tier 1 hormones first (cortisol aka stress and insulin aka blood sugar balance), before we even attempt to balance tier 2 (thyroid hormones) or tier 3 (reproductive hormones).
Our reproductive hormones oestrogen, progesterone, follicle stimulating hormone, luteinising hormone, prolactin and sex hormone binding globulin are impacted by:
Stress and poor sleep
Thyroid hormones (which are also impacted by stress and blood sugar issues!)
Diet: inflammatory foods (which can include dairy, gluten, sugar, alcohol), lack of protein, lack of essential nutrients
Blood sugar imbalances
Poor gut health and constipation
Poor detoxification and an increased toxic burden
Endocrine disrupting chemicals found in personal care products, plastics, pesticides etc
High levels of inflammation
Being overweight
Hormone problems are the canary in the coalmine, letting us know that something higher upstream is off and needs correcting. Reach out if your canaries aka hormones are singing and need help.
